Sesego Cares to sponsor Rotary Family Health Days 2017
Sesego Cares is once again one of the sponsors for this year’s Rotary Family Health Days. The event will take place from 3 – 5 October and this year, the aim is to bring free health services to a record 100 000 people.
This year, the National Department of Health is focusing on the She Conquers campaign. The campaign was implemented to empower and support adolescent girls and young women. It was born from evidence that suggests a disproportionate burden of HIV among 15-24 year old adolescent girls and young women in South Africa. UNAIDS has estimated that there are almost 2 000 new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women aged 15-24 years each week.
The event, now in its fifth consecutive year, is a major public-private partnership that offers access to free health screenings and immunisations to vulnerable communities across South Africa. This year, the goal was to reach 100 000 people.
Free services offered include TB screening, HIV screening and counseling, high blood pressure and diabetes screening, immunisations and more.
